When I’m bored of everything, when all literature seems cliché, I find myself back at Borges.

Ficciones is a is a collection of short stories by Jorge Luis Borges, who I discovered in college decades ago and is still my favorite literary sci-fi author of all time. He's a very unique character. Borges is definitely worth reading if you like highly dense science fiction-ish stories with lots of literary allusions and poetry and all kinds of clever prose weaved in. My favorite story of his is probably The Library of Babel, which is a classic. If you haven't read that and you like sci-fi, I highly recommend it. It's one of my two favorite short stories of all time, the other one is Understand by Ted Chiang who is also a genius.

A deeply thought provoking sci-fi story from the darker corners of the Internet. Inspired by Borges, Lovecraft and Neal Stephenson, weaving in blockchains and AI. https://t.co/Qt4CPBIcRz

The ability to reason relies on the ability to abstract away details and then classify objects. See “Funes, the Memorious” by JL Borges for an exploration.

If you liked that, read more Borges. “The God’s Script,” “Library of Babel,” etc. He’s unmatched.

I love Jorge Luis Borges, the Argentine author. His short story collection Ficciones, or Labyrinths, is amazing. [...] Yeah, Borges is probably my... still the most powerful author that I have read who wasn’t just outright writing philosophy. That was philosophy in there with the sci-fi. [...] “Library of Babel” by Borges is one of the most mind-blowing stories ever written, especially if you know the history of Borges himself, how he was a professor of literature, he managed the Argentine National Library, then he went blind in this library and wrote this amazing story about a library in which all the letters in all the books are kind of jumbled.
